Neptune Internet offers a VPN service based on the WireGuard protocol providing up to two free VPN tunnels to Neptune subscribers. Read on and learn how to set up Neptune VPN on your Wireguard app.

Before you begin

This article assumes you have installed the Wireguard app on desktop or mobile. If you don't have Wireguard, you can install it here.

Atmosphere is enabled in Ad-Protection mode by default on all VPN tunnels. This is the only supported mode.

Step 1: Create your Neptune VPN tunnel

From your subscriber portal, navigate to Neptune VPN Service, and click Add VPN Tunnel. After you create a VPN tunnel, you'll see your assigned IPv4 and IPv6 address. This will be your external address when using Neptune VPN.

Step 2: Configure Wireguard

Once your tunnel is created you have a couple of options for importing your configuration to your Wireguard client.

You can either:

  • Scan a QR code from the Wireguard app, or

  • Copy the Wireguard configuration to your clipboard and import manually.

To ensure your privacy and security, Neptune will not store these private keys. This means that after these configurations are generated, you will not be able to access them in your subscriber portal again. If you lose this configuration, you can click Reset Keys to generate a new set of keys.

Step 3: Activate Tunnel and Verify

After importing your configuration, activate the tunnel in Wireguard, confirm tunnel status is "Active" and that your Internet connection works. Visit https://ifconfig.me/ and confirm that your IP address matches your tunnel created in Step 1.

Disabling Atmosphere

If, for any reason, you want to disable Atmosphere on your VPN tunnel - for example, if some websites are not loading- please follow this guide to disable it.

Option 1: To disable Atmosphere, you can manually update your WireGuard configuration by replacing our DNS servers (10.102.0.20, 10.102.0.21, 10.102.0.22) with a set of public DNS servers of your choice.

  • Click manage tunnels.

  • Then click edit in the right bottom corner.

Update the list of DNS servers with public servers, such as Quad9 or Google DNS. This will disable Atmosphere for your tunnel.

Option 2: You can reset the keys and uncheck the Atmosphere Enabled toggle.

  • Head to Neptune VPN Service in Triton.

  • Choose "Reset Keys" - your keys will be reset, you'll need to rescan the configuration of your tunnel.

  • Uncheck "Enable Atmosphere" toggle.
